The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Frustration Over Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
